Why do the concerts?...
Sadly, world class snooker player, Paul Hunter succumbed to cancer during 2006. The loss was not only felt from his family and the snooker fraternity, but also nationally as young people the length and breadth of the country were shocked and saddened by his passing. What hit people the most was his young age and the dignified way in which he conducted himself in the last year or so before he died.

The loss inspired young subscribers on the internet phenomenon My Space to set up condolence sites in memory of the great man. One in particular site caught the eye of local businessman Rob Scott who owns York based company, Discerning Images Photography. It was created by a 21 year old called Jon from the south west of the UK, his site was called simply ’The Paul Hunter Tribute’. Rob said “ Like everybody else, I was sorry to hear the news that Paul had died but heartened that so many people of around his own age would take the time to let others know how they felt”. “Jon seemed to have created a quality tribute to Paul, I was impressed with the sincerity of his My Space site.”

“I mailed him and told him about an Acomb Music Charity Concert I had attended at The Junction during the summer which had raised £400 for York Against Cancer and muted the idea that perhaps something similar could be arranged in honour and memory of Paul. Jon was 100% in agreement and The Paul Hunter Tribute Concerts idea was born.
