Bottom Drains

When planning the installation of a large new pond give serious consideration to a bottom drain and gravity feed filter system, it really isn’t as frightening or as hard as it would appear to be and maintains a much healthier pond, although it is more expensive.

This method basically utilizes a domed sump fitted into the base of the pond from which water is sucked into a gravity fed filter which is installed so that the water is at the same level as the ponds surface. Then clean water is then pumped back into the pond using an external pump which is fitted after the filter.
